Members have access to a dynamic pool of qualified candidates, both recent graduates from institutions with concentrated programs in photonics and associated technologies at all levels as well as seasoned professionals seeking a change. Photon-X

Engineering and Operations Manager

Photon-X has an immediate opening for a dynamic engineering expert in new product design and manufacturing to join their team in Kissimmee Florida. This individual will need to manage a multidisciplinary team of optical, electrical, mechanical and software engineers plus the technicians in a new product development. The engineering and operations manager will also oversee prototype and pilot production of new products as well as a global network of contract manufacturers that produce intermediate assemblies and finished goods. This position requires excellent communications skills as it requires direct interaction with customers, suppliers, global research partners, executives, and engineers at all levels. This position requires above average business acumen, design engineering best practices and manufacturing best practices knowledge.

Photon-X is an imaging systems integrator and member of BRIDG that delivers custom imaging solutions into a variety of high-tech markets. The ideal candidate for the engineering and operations manager will have a master’s degree in electrical, mechanical or optical engineering with no less than 5 years’ experience in design engineering and no, less than 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.

Engineering and Operations Manager Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in (optical, mechanical or electrical) Engineering.

Laser/Optical Engineer

The Laser/Optical Engineer will design and develop new laser systems, optical paths and assemblies. The individual will work with and support Customers, Sales, Application Engineering, Engineering and Manufacturing departments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Develop, Design, Prototype and Test various types of optical systems and laser systems
    (i.e. flash lamp, diode pumped, direct diode, and fiber)
  • Understand and support the application of the company’s laser systems

  • Select and qualify laser and optical components and suppliers and provide supplier support

Job description

You will lead system architecture definition and analysis activities in IR cameras targeting NIR, SWIR, MWIR and LWIR bands . You have a strong physics and electronics background, as well as a flexible approach towards the application of this background in diverse and novel fields. Since we are envisaging applications in security, medical and consumer space, previous experience in these areas is a strong asset. Further, synthetic analytic skills are crucial along with very good scripting abilities. A crucial aspect will be to bridge the gap between theory, simulations and practical, small form factor and real-time implementations. Indeed, we expect the System Architect to be instrumental in the breadboard prototype implementation of the systems he or she helps to define.

Profile

You have a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering or Physics (optics) with a strong background in system modeling.
Experience with IR/lidar/radar signal processing and classification is a definitive plus. You are proficient in industrial grade system simulation tools and programming (matlab, python, C and other languages).
You are knowledgeable in following areas: focal plane arrays, electro optical systems, optics, photonics, semiconductor physics for imagers, computational imaging, stochastic signal processing, system identification, Kalman filters, estimation techniques (Bayesian estimation, least-squares, spectral estimation, super-resolution algorithms), image processing, supervised and non-supervised classification, neural networks, deep learning.
You are a self-starter and a hands-on person.
You can easily integrate in a multidisciplinary team within a global context.
You possess strong problem solving and innovative thinking skills.
Excellent communication skills in English (written and spoken).
Flexible team player, actively helping other team members, you see changes as an opportunity to learn and grow.
